What is a circuit

Online etymology dictionary defines the word Circuit’s origin as:

late Middle English: via Old French from Latin circuitus, from circuire, variant of circumire ‘go around,’ from circum ‘around’ + ire ‘go.’

The simplest way to visual a circuit is to think of it as a racetrack. So, think of a circuit as a path for which electrons move from the starting point to the ending point, where the ending point is the same as the starting point.

For now, the definitions and examples are very simple, but they do allow you to visualize electronics. This is the skill that you will need to develop. Circuit diagrams, Java Applet Circuit Simulator, Digital Volt Meters, ScopeMeters, and Oscilloscopes are devices you use to contruct the electronic circuit in your mind. You need to use your mind, since you can't see electricity, but can see the results of its work. What is great about electronics is that it is like math. It follows precise rules. These precise rules allow you to construct and, in our case, track down issues that arise.
